Preparing Children for Kindergarten or Their Next Developmental Stage

Staffed with highly trained childcare providers in the areas of early childhood development and health, our centers are the perfect choice for your little one or preschool-aged child. Not only are we equipped to keep each child safe, but we are also licensed to lead educational activities and enriching lessons. We offer a very structured and organized environment that promotes academic consistency for all children in our care. Please take a look at the classes that we offer.

Our infant room teachers provide the babies with lots of love and affection, music, and plenty of toys to play with to ensure that they can enjoy the day. All infants are held to receive their bottles, and a daily record is kept of your child's feedings, diaper changes, naps, and overall activities.

Junior Toddlers

Their daily schedule consists of music, finger plays, creative movement, storytelling, book reading, and much more. We keep them actively engaged and having fun. The children also have outside playtime in their own private play yard and take scheduled morning and afternoon naps. Each day you'll receive a written record of your child's activities throughout the day.

Senior Toddlers

Our senior toddler program is based on the children's natural curiosity to learn. We encourage the children to participate in group activities where they hear stories, sing songs, and begin using books and other visual aids. The children also begin creating simple art projects and learning to recognize colors. The teachers encourage the children to participate in appropriate social interaction, vocabulary building exercises, and enhancing their fine and gross motor skills through play. They play outside in the morning and afternoon and nap once a day to enjoy a full day of healthy activities.

Two Year Olds

Our educational program encourages appropriate social skills through different themed units. The children will continue to build their vocabulary, recognize colors and shapes, begin counting and number recognition, enhance their calendar skills, recite nursery rhymes, and more. The program is enriched with artwork, and creative movement. Afternoon naps are taken on assigned mats.

Three & Four Year Olds

This class continues with an interactive program written with the emphasis that early childhood learning should be fun. This program reinforces all of the concepts taught in the two year old program, plus introduces them to recognizing the letters in the alphabet and letter sounds. The children have scheduled times to play outside, as well as a daily nap. Free play is stimulated with centers, including:

  • Blocks
  • Home
  • Lego
  • Transportation
  • Math Manipulatives
  • Sensory Table
  • Reading
  • Writing

Pre-Kindergarten Class

This class uses a comprehensive program designed specifically to prepare children for kindergarten. The lessons include problem solving, estimation, patterning, graphing, number recognition, counting sets, classifying objects, sequencing, ordinals and more. Subjects include language, number readiness, social living, pre-writing, music, and physical education. Lessons, play time and naps are scheduled each day.

Schoolers' Club

Children are served breakfast before school and snacks when they return in the afternoon. They have outside playtime, arts and crafts, inside games, free time, video games, and the opportunity to complete their homework. Our club-like atmosphere is a positive, fun-filled environment where we offer the children various choices of activities. There is an additional charge for full days when school is not in session.

Summer Camp

Best Child Care offers a complete Summer Camp for all preschoolers and after-schoolers. Summer activities include swimming, bowling, skating, Happy Feet, arts and crafts, movies, visits to the park and special field trips. There is a separate summer activity fee to cover these costs.

The weekly tuition is due on Monday of each week. A one-week notice is required when leaving our Baton Rouge or Live Oak center.
